According to the latest guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, issued in March 2024, individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 are no longer required to isolate themselves if they have been without a fever for 24 hours, without using any fever-reducing medication, and if their symptoms are improving.
Guidance for Students who Test Positive
- Notify the school nurse and stay home and away from others when symptomatic.
- Students can return to school if they have been fever-free for 24 hours, without using any fever-reducing medication, and if their symptoms are improving.
- Upon returning to school, please consider taking additional steps for the next five days to reduce spread, such as wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others and enhancing hygiene practices.
Please call the school nurse with questions about COVID-19 or any other medical conditions or consult your personal physician.
Guidance for Staff who Test Positive
- Staff members are required to complete the Employee Positive COVID Test Reporting form, used by the GCSD Benefits Office to determine whether an employee is eligible for NYS COVID Pay. The Department of Human Resources created this document to walk employees through the reporting process. Please note that the New York State COVID Leave Law remains in effect for employees.
