  • Addressing High Temps While Remaining In Session

With high temperatures predicted for the remainder of the week, the Greece Central School District is closely monitoring indoor and outdoor temperatures and making adjustments accordingly. In an effort to combat misinformation, we are reaching out to let you know that Greece schools plan to remain in session. (There is no school on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.) Wherever possible, cooler spaces inside the buildings will be used for instructional purposes. Window blinds will remain closed to keep indoor temperatures down and fans and other cooling devices will be used to make classrooms more comfortable. Additionally, some traditional outdoor activities, including recess and Physical Education classes, will be conducted indoors. Planned year-end activities, such as field trips, moving up ceremonies, and field days will continue, but start times and locations may be modified. Schools will also prioritize keeping students hydrated. We will reach out directly to notify families of any changes.

  • Health and Safety Committee Members Sought

The Greece Central School District will be involved in a number of construction projects this summer throughout the district. The Commissioner of Education's Regulation 8 NYCRR 155 requires that a Health and Safety Committee be formed to monitor construction safety at work sites.  To that end, a committee has been formed with district personnel and we are soliciting participation from other interested parties including staff, labor unions, parents, etc. Meetings have been set for Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 11 a.m. until noon at Arcadia High School and Wednesday, August 14, 2023 from 11 a.m. until noon at Longridge Elementary School.  Should you have any interest in participating on this committee, please contact Michelle Giordano at (585) 966-2783 or by email at michelle.giordano@greececsd.org.
