What Is Secondary Option?
The Greece Central School District allows only incoming sixth-grade students to apply to attend a school outside of their home attendance area. Students are accepted on a space available basis.
How Do I Apply for Secondary Option?
Eligible families will receive information about the application process, including deadlines, by mail in November. Applications will also be available on this website.
How Many Openings Are There?
The number of students accepted through Secondary Option varies yearly and is dependent on building capacity and projected enrollment.
Can I Apply to More Than One School?
Yes, you can apply to all schools of interest.
How Are Students Selected?
If we receive more applications for a particular school than can be accommodated, a computerized lottery will select students for acceptance. Names of students not selected will be placed on a waiting list until the end of the school year.
How Will I Be Notified of Acceptance?
You will receive a letter of acceptance or notification of your position on a waiting list by mail. If you are accepted, you will need to notify the Office of Student Achievement and Accountability.
Can I Apply Next Year if I Don't Get Accepted this Year?
No. The lottery is only for incoming sixth-grade students.
Do I Need to Reapply Every Year?
No. If you are accepted, your child can attend there through graduation.

Incoming Kindergarten Schools of Choice

The Schools of Choice process enables parents of age-eligible students to apply for admission to schools outside of their geographic attendance area. Only incoming kindergarten students can apply to attend Pine Brook or the Early Learning Center at West Ridge. Admission is granted on a space-available basis.
Applications for the 2024-25 school year will be mailed out to families in November. For more information about this process, call the Office of Student Achievement and Accountability at 966-2304.
