Universal Prekindergarten (UPK)

  • The Greece Central School District (GCSD) is proud to provide a high quality Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) program at no additional cost to Greece residents. Both the full-day and half-day programs address the educational needs of our youngest learners in an environment that nurtures social development, creativity, decision-making, and school readiness. We have both full day and half-day classes in our program. Our district UPK programs are offered at the Greece Community Early Learning Center and English Village Elementary School. Our Community-Based Organization (CBO) UPK partners are Care-A-Lot North, Care-A-Lot South, Expressive Beginnings, and Park Ridge Child Care Center.

If you are looking to enroll your child for the current school year (2024-2025), please call 966-2472. While available spots have been assigned to students for the current school year, there are always changes in enrollment and we maintain an active waiting list throughout the school year.

If you are interested in enrolling in the UPK program, the application process for the 2025-2026 school year will begin in January 2025. Children who are turning 4 years old on or before December 1, 2025, are eligible to enroll in pre-kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year. Eligible families can apply through the UPK Online Application form below starting in January 2025. In order to be considered, you must complete the application by March 1, 2025. If you would like a paper copy of the UPK application, please call 966-2472 to have one mailed. Placement is on a lottery basis.

If your child is accepted into the UPK program, you will receive a confirmation letter and registration information. Students will be assigned to attend full-day or half-day sessions, at a school or CBO partner. Parents in all of our UPK programs are responsible for making transportation arrangements to and from prekindergarten every day. Busing is not provided.
