Budget & Propositions Approved; Falzarano, Buonaugurio, Seaman, Elected to Board of Education

By a vote of 2,254 in favor to 1,125 against, Greece Central School District voters approved a $318,529,556 spending plan for the 2025-26 school year. The budget remains within the state’s tax levy limit for the 15th consecutive year and has an estimated tax levy of $2,590,581.

“The budget approved tonight reflects our commitment to focus on what matters,” said Superintendent Jeremy Smalline. “We’re grateful to the voters and thank the entire community for their support of Greece schools.”

By a vote of 2,273 in favor and 1,117 against, voters approved a bus purchase proposition that authorizes the district to purchase up to 35 replacement gas/diesel buses at a cost not to exceed $5,647,419. Of that amount, $1,890,000 will come from the district’s previously established bus purchase reserve fund. The remaining cost will be financed over five years with debt service to begin in 2025-246 with no additional cost to residents.

By a vote of 2,301 in favor and 1,114 against, voters also approved the establishment of a Capital Reserve Fund to support future renovation and construction projects. The fund will be capped at $50 million, plus accumulated interest. Any spending from this reserve would require Board and voter approval.

In a six-way race for three seats on the Board of Education, voters selected Annamaria Falzarano (1,903 votes), Mark Buonaugurio
(1,764 votes), and Monica Seaman(1,707 votes).
The candidates not elected were Jenne LaPlaca (1,606 votes), Megan Ferra (1,566 votes), and Shaunna Smith (1,377 votes).

The newly elected Board of Education members will serve three-year terms beginning on July 1, 2025.
