Census 2020 - Everyone Counts!

Census 2020

Greece Central School District leaders and government officials are encouraging all residents to participate in the 2020 Census. The census provides critical data that lawmakers and many others use to allocate services, products, and support for our community. Annually, billions of dollars in federal funding goes to hospitals, fire departments, schools, and municipalities based on census data. Results also determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives and are used to draw congressional and legislative districts.

Having less than 100% participation would negatively impact the community. The goal of the 2020 Census is to count everyone once and in the right place. The Greece Central District is partnering with the Census Bureau to make sure our community is accurately counted and our school funding is protected.

For the first time, respondents can access Census questionnaires online and on the phone in 13 languages, including English. All Census responses are confidential and when people fill out the census questionnaire online, their data is encrypted and protected. Click here for a census confidentiality factsheet.

Please note that the Census Bureau does not request Social Security numbers, money, donations, bank or credit card account numbers or anything on behalf of a political party. There will not be any questions about citizenship or immigration status.

The Census Bureau will send out invitations to respond online to the 2020 Census between March 12 and 20. Some households will also receive paper questionnaires. The agency will send out periodic reminder letters through the week of April 20 before an employee follows up in person.
