Smalline Named Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources
The Greece Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy Smalline as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.
Smalline has been with the Greece Central School District for 15 years and is a proven leader. Superintendent Kathleen Graupman said he was selected because of his vision, experience, and ability to build positive relationships.
“Jeremy has demonstrated his committed to our district vision of equity and excellence,” Graupman said. “He has developed strong relationships, cares deeply for people, and values collaboration. He is a great choice to lead an office that focuses on recruiting, developing and retaining the exceptional talent in our district.”
Smalline, who began in the new role on January 29, oversees the hiring, promotion and evaluation of more than 3,000 employees. His department also handles employee benefits, contract negotiations, and labor management. Smalline is excited to continue his career at Greece Central.

Smalline came to Greece in 2005 and spent 10 years at Longridge Elementary School serving in a variety of administrative positions including administrative intern, assistant principal, and principal before being promoted in 2015 to District Turnaround Principal. The following year he was named Director of Student Services and School Improvement and in August 2019, Smalline transitioned to the Department of Human Resources. Before coming to Greece, he worked as an elementary school teacher in the West Irondequoit and Rochester City school districts.
Smalline holds both a Bachelor of Arts in History and Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from St. John Fisher College. He has also attended the Turnaround Leadership Program at Harvard University and the Superintendent Development Program at SUNY Oswego.
A lifelong learner and educator, Smalline has served on numerous committees and improvement teams. He has experience in strategic planning, budgeting, social-emotional learning, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and school improvement. He is grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from the previous Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Elizabeth Bentley and will continue the work she has led over the years.
