Kelly Flagler Named New Athena High School Principal

Board of Education has approved the promotion of Kelly Flagler to the position of Athena High School Principal. Mrs. Flagler comes to Athena from Olympia, where she is currently an assistant principal.

Mrs. Flagler brings with her 14 years of educational experience. Before coming to Greece, she was an instructional coach and an English teacher in the Rochester City School District. Mrs. Flagler was selected for the position because of her strong belief in relationships, her connection with teachers and staff, and her advocacy on behalf of students.

Since joining the Greece Central administrative team five years ago, she has taken on a number of leadership roles, most recently spearheading the Smart Scholars Early College High School program at Olympia. Mrs. Flagler is excited to continue her career at Athena.

“I look forward to building strong relationships with the Athena community, and we will work together to see every child rise,” she said.  “Greece is becoming a model for equity and excellence at a time when it could not be needed more. My hope is to continue building on this momentum as principal.”

A graduate of SUNY Geneseo, Mrs. Flagler has a Master’s Degree in Adolescent English and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from the Warner School of Education from the University of Rochester. She and her husband, Steve, have three daughters – Grace, Clara, and Aryanna.

Mrs. Flagler officially becomes a Trojan on December 16, but plans work closely with Interim Principal Jon Hunter to prepare for a smooth transition.
