Getting to Know Mr. Jones
Hello Craig Hill Community
My name is Brandin Jones, and I am the new Principal of Craig Hill Elementary school! I am very excited and honored to be able to lead Craig Hill into its next chapter. I have had many opportunities to talk with families and staff, both past and present, of Craig Hill and while they all had different stories, the stories had a similar theme- that Craig Hill is a special place, composed of excellence, a commitment to success for all, and most importantly, love.
Rochester, New York is my home. I grew up in the city of Rochester and was raised by my grandmother who showed me how love and support can get anyone through the most difficult times. I graduated from School Without Walls in 2004 and then attended Nazareth College where I studied psychology and inclusive childhood education. After college, I started teaching as a special education teacher in the Rochester City School District; most of my time as a teacher was spent at School of the Arts. Eventually, I went back to school for a Master’s Degree in School Leadership, I attended the Warner School at the University of Rochester. In 2015, I transitioned from a special education teacher in the Rochester City School District to a Coordinating Administrator of Special Education. After a few years in that position, I became an Assistant Principal here in the Greece Central School District- I spent 4 years at Odyssey Academy. My time at Odyssey is where I learned the importance of educational equity and ensuring that school systems, policies, and procedures work to support all students, but especially our most vulnerable.
As the Principal of Craig Hill, my goals are simple-
- Ensure that each student who attends Craig Hill feels welcomed, safe, and capable of success.
- Foster productive and meaningful relationships with parents/guardians so that they can play an active and crucial role in their child’s educational journey.
- Work collaboratively with staff to make sure they are equipped with the most effective skills to ensure student success both academically and emotionally.
- Lastly, I want every student, parent, and staff member to be able to say that they are PROUD to be a part of the Craig Hill community.
Again, I am thrilled to have the privilege to lead the Craig Hill community. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!
With gratitude and appreciation,
Your Principal-Brandin Jones
